About LewisGale Physicians orthopedic urgent care

No one plans a sprain, broken bone or other orthopedic injury needing immediate attention. But, when it happens, you can count on the orthopedic team at LewisGale Physicians to see you now. For orthopedic injuries and conditions that don’t require emergency room care, turn to our orthopedic urgent care team. We offer:

  • Same-day, walk-in, no appointment necessary
  • Extended care hours
    • Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm

Our orthopedic urgent care team treats a wide range of injuries including:

  • Back and neck injuries (ages 18 and up)
  • Broken bones
  • Foot and ankle injuries
  • Hand and wrist injuries
  • Knee injuries
  • Slips, trips, falls
  • Sports injuries
  • Sprains and strains
  • Work-related injuries

Urgent care procedures performed:

  • Casting, splinting, bracing
  • Joint and tendon sheath injections
  • Joint aspirations
  • Minor fracture reductions (without conscious sedation)
  • Ordering of advanced imaging (ex. MRI, CT)
  • Trigger finger injections
  • X–ray imaging

Conditions not treated at our urgent care clinic:

  • Emergency department follow–ups
  • Falls greater than 8 feet
  • Head trauma
  • Injuries from motor vehicle accidents
  • Multiple joint trauma
  • Open fractures
  • Pediatric spine (younger than 18 years old)
  • Second opinions
  • Suspected rib fracture and chest trauma

What to bring to your urgent care appointment

When you or your child is injured, the important thing is to seek expert care immediately. Be sure to bring the following information with you so we can treat you quickly:

For workers’ compensation cases, please bring the following information:

  • Valid photo ID
  • Location of injury on your body
  • Date of injury
  • Name and phone number of employer contact and/or case manager
  • Adjuster’s name/contact information, if available
  • Name of the workers’ compensation insurance plan used by your employer
  • Claim number, if available

Cancellations

If you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, please give a 24-hour notice so someone else may use that time. Arriving early for your first appointment is very helpful for filling out questionnaires and insurance forms.
