Integrative medicine

Our integrative medicine services include a personalized approach to your health.  Our integrative medicine trained physician will look at the root cause of your symptoms and develop a plan with you to take charge of your health. Learn more about integrative medicine services below, including frequently asked questions.

Integrative medicine is a personalized approach to your health. Integrative medicine trained physicians first look at the root cause of your symptoms.  Emphasis is largely on what you can do to take charge of your health.  The integrative physician will develop a plan with you to improve your health and well-being.  This plan may include recommendations involving dietary changes, mind-body medicine, lifestyle changes, herbal and/or nutritional supplements, and/or prescription drug therapy.

Integrative medicine is not prescribing a bunch of supplements and herbs to get patients better. It is a holistic approach to your care. We recognize there is expense and burden to taking pills be it prescription medications or supplements, and we want to work with you to find solutions that are both affordable and evidence supported.  Integrative practitioners can have a variety of training backgrounds and expertise.  If there is a specific test or treatment you are seeking, please contact our office to determine if it is something we can offer.

An integrative medicine appointment will start with you filling out a very detailed health questionnaire prior to your visit and ideally submitting it 1 to 2 weeks before your first appointment.  This gives your doctor plenty of time to review and think about options to best meet your healthcare needs before you arrive.  The first appointment will be approximately 60 to 90 minutes. Follow up appointments will typically be 30 to 45 minutes. This gives us ample time to address you as a whole person, not just follow up on a few things as we understand that many of your concerns are interrelated.

Yes, billing will be similar to traditional office visits and is based on complexity or duration of the visit.

Everyone! Whether you are seeking to obtain insight about your health, treat a chronic condition, or learn how to prevent chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, we can help! Individuals who do not tolerate pharmaceutical medications or wish to try non—prescription drug treatments can benefit as well.  Patients who have been to multiple specialists and cannot find a reason for their condition or who have not found an effective remedy may benefit from an integrative approach. Patients who are currently taking supplements or vitamins may benefit as well to learn how to identify high quality supplements. Patients can also learn if there is evidence to support using a certain herb or supplement for their condition, as well as to see if it will interact with any of their pharmaceutical medications.

No, you will keep your current doctor. Dr. Julianna Snow, who is with this practice, will see you for an integrative consult and work with your current doctor to address your concerns.   You have the option to establish as a family medicine patient with our practice or be seen for a consultation.

Although we can help you make changes that may reduce your need for prescription medication, do not stop any medications without discussing with your primary care or integrative medicine doctor first.

Simply call or notify our front office staff and request an integrative medicine clinic appointment. They will provide you the necessary intake form and schedule your appointment accordingly.
